Sutton Cancer Support – someone to talk to

Providing a space where you can ask questions or simply find someone to talk to, Sutton Cancer Care offers support and guidance for anyone affected by cancer.

The team behind Sutton Cancer Support

Helping adults affected by cancer for more than 15 years, Sutton Cancer Support was founded as a charity in 2001 to help cancer patients in the Midlands. It was the brainchild of Mavis Cunningham, an experienced nurse who was involved with a local breast cancer charity, when she recognised the gap in support available locally and developed an idea with other founding members.

Together they envisioned a house with an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. It would be a place of sanctuary for those affected by cancer, providing counselling, practical advice and complementary therapies or simply someone to talk to.

What they do to support cancer patients

Everything they do at Sutton Cancer Support is designed to aid and empower individuals, to help them find and rebuild their confidence so that they navigate a difficult path and can get back to a sense of self.

Amongst other things, they provide a number of free 1:1 therapeutic treatments and access to a range of group activities, healthy eating and self-help workshops. Throughout Covid-19 they have also developed virtual support sessions as well.
