Headwrappers – the hair loss advisory clinic

Headwrappers is a hair loss advisory clinic supporting anyone undergoing cancer treatment which may cause hair loss.

Its goal is to offer help and advice during what can be a distressing time, through counsel and providing creative ideas that focus on alternatives to wigs. That includes practical tips to help you feel more confident and look good as well.

The team behind Headwrappers

Founded by a group of volunteers, Cris, Julie and Karyn, Headstrong services include private appointments or two-hour group sessions with trained volunteers who understand the impact of losing your hair.

What you can expect from Headwrappers cancer support

During their sessions they talk about coping with hair loss and you have the opportunity to raise any concerns that you have. They provide tips on caring for your hair and scalp before, during and after cancer treatment, as well as learning how to make the most of scarves, hats and hair pieces, scarf tying techniques.

You receive a free headscarf at your first appointment, and you get to try on a range of different headwear to see what suits you best. They will also recommend other charities and support organisations that you may find helpful.

While their regular sessions are at hospitals across London and the South East, through this period of social distancing, they have also been offering online sessions. Once you have registered, you will be sent a hygienically packed package including a square cotton scarf in your choice of colour, a tie in a contrasting colour, a knitted headband, and a Defiant Beauty Lip Balm.
